Physiotherapy for Seniors
in Maple Ridge, BC
Who We Help
Our senior physiotherapy program supports older adults dealing with a wide range of conditions, including:
Arthritis And Joint Pain
We help manage inflammation, restore range of motion, and reduce pain so daily tasks like opening jars, climbing stairs, or walking become easier again.
Osteoporosis And Bone Health
We design safe, weight-bearing exercise programs that improve bone density, posture, and spinal support to reduce your fracture risk.
Hip And Knee Pain
Whether caused by wear and tear, injury, or overuse, we address the root cause of your hip or knee pain and help you move without bracing for the next flare-up.
Post-Surgical Rehabilitation
After a hip replacement, knee replacement, or rotator cuff repair, we guide your recovery step by step to rebuild strength, restore function, and get you back to independence sooner.
Chronic Back And Neck Pain
We treat the structures driving your pain, not just the symptoms, using hands-on therapy, targeted exercise, and advanced modalities like Shockwave and High Power Laser.
Balance Problems And Dizziness
We assess the causes of your balance issues, including inner ear dysfunction, muscle weakness, and coordination deficits, and build a targeted program to steady your footing.
Fear Of Falling Or A Recent Fall
We address both the physical and confidence side of fall recovery, rebuilding the strength, balance, and body awareness you need to move through your home and community safely.
Reduced Mobility And Flexibility
We work to restore the range of motion that lets you reach overhead, bend down, turn to check your blind spot, or simply get dressed without discomfort.
Neurological Conditions
For conditions like Parkinson's disease or post-stroke recovery, we focus on movement quality, coordination, and functional strength to support your independence and quality of life.
General Deconditioning And Loss Of Strength
If you have been less active due to illness, injury, or simply the passage of time, we build you back up gradually and safely with a plan matched to where you are right now.
Shoulder Pain
For rotator cuff injuries, frozen shoulder, or general shoulder stiffness that limits your ability to reach, lift, or sleep comfortably, we restore strength and mobility through targeted hands-on care.
Foot And Ankle Pain
Conditions like plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendon pain, and ankle instability affect how confidently you walk and how much you can stay on your feet throughout the day.
If you do not see your condition listed here, reach out. Senior physiotherapy covers a wide range of musculoskeletal, neurological, and post-surgical conditions, and we are happy to discuss whether we can help before you book. No referral is needed to get started, and we accept direct billing for ICBC, WorkSafeBC, and over 25 extended health insurance providers.
What To Expect
Your first appointment begins with a thorough one-on-one assessment. Your physiotherapist will take time to understand your health history, your daily activities, and your goals. From there, we develop a personalized treatment plan focused on what matters most to you.
Treatment may include hands-on manual therapy, exercise prescription, and access to advanced technology such as Shockwave Therapy, High Power Laser, and Acupuncture or IMS. These are not add-ons — they are included as part of your standard physiotherapy treatment at no extra cost.
Strength And Balance Training For Seniors
Balance problems and muscle weakness are leading causes of falls in older adults. Falls are one of the most serious health risks seniors face, and the consequences can be life-changing. Our kinesiologist-led Strength and Balance Training program is specifically designed to address this.
We offer private one-on-one sessions, tandem sessions with a partner or family member, and small group classes. Training is supervised, progressive, and adapted to your current fitness level and physical limitations. You do not need to be athletic to participate. You just need to want to move better.
Whether your goal is to climb stairs more confidently, get up from a chair without assistance, or return to an activity you love, this program gives you a structured path to get there.
Our Approach to Senior Physiotherapy
We understand that physiotherapy for older adults requires more than a standard exercise program. It requires patience, clear communication, and an approach that respects both your body and your goals.
At Asana Physiotherapy, we do not rush appointments. We take time to explain what we are doing and why. We adjust your plan as you progress, and we stay in close communication with your family physician or specialist when needed.
Our clinic is located in Maple Ridge and is accessible by public transit. Booking is available online through our website or by phone.
Advanced Technology at No Extra Cost
Asana Physiotherapy is one of the few clinics in Maple Ridge to include advanced therapeutic technology as part of every standard physiotherapy treatment. This includes:
Shockwave Therapy — effective for tendon injuries, heel pain, and chronic musculoskeletal conditions common in older adults
High Power Laser Therapy — reduces inflammation and accelerates tissue healing
Acupuncture and IMS — addresses muscle tightness, nerve pain, and chronic pain patterns
There is no extra charge for these treatments. They are part of how we treat our patients.
