Myofascial & Soft Tissue Release At Asana Physiotherapy

Advanced Pain Relief

Are you struggling with persistent muscle tightness, restricted movement, or chronic pain that refuses to budge? At Asana Physiotherapy, we specialize in Myofascial Release (MFR) and Soft Tissue Release (STR)—two highly effective manual therapy techniques designed to break down scar tissue, optimize muscle function, and restore your body’s natural mobility.

Book Treatment

What is Myofascial Release (MFR)?

Fascia is a thin, tough, elastic type of connective tissue that wraps around most structures within the human body, including muscles. In a healthy state, fascia is wavy and relaxed. However, due to trauma, poor posture, or inflammation, the fascia can become tight and restricted.

Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle, sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions. This process helps to:

  • Eliminate pain and restore motion.
  • Improve blood circulation to "stuck" areas.
  • Release "trigger points" that cause referred pain.

What is Soft Tissue Release (STR)?

While MFR focuses on the connective tissue, Soft Tissue Release (STR) is a more targeted approach used to stretch specific areas of abnormal tension within a muscle. Our therapists use STR to "pin" a muscle in a shortened position and then move the joint to stretch the fibers away from the pin.

This technique is particularly beneficial for:

  • Breaking up localized adhesions (knots).
  • Increasing the range of motion in specific joints.
  • Speeding up recovery from sports injuries.
  • Correcting muscle imbalances caused by repetitive strain.

No Extra Fees For Advanced Healing

At Asana Physiotherapy, we believe in removing barriers to your recovery. That is why Shockwave Therapy is seamlessly integrated into our standard physiotherapy treatments whenever required—at no additional cost to you.

Why Choose Asana Physiotherapy for Manual Therapy?

At Asana Physiotherapy, we don’t believe in a "one-size-fits-all" approach. Our therapists combine MFR and STR with comprehensive assessments to treat the root cause of your discomfort, not just the symptoms.

Advanced Trigger

Point Treatment

Many patients suffer from persistent Trigger Points—tight "knots" in the muscle that cause referred pain and restricted movement. While traditional manual therapy is excellent, Shockwave allows us to target these Back Pressure Points and deep muscular adhesions with precision. By delivering mechanical energy directly to the source of the tension, we can deactivate painful trigger points more effectively than manual pressure alone.

What To Expect During Your Session

01

Direct

Contact

Techniques are usually performed directly on the skin without oils or lotions to ensure the therapist can accurately detect fascial restrictions.

02

Sustained Pressure

You may feel a "stretching" or "melting" sensation as the tissue begins to release.

02

Active or Passive Movement

Depending on the technique (STR), your therapist may ask you to move a limb while they apply pressure.

The Asana Approach

At Asana Physiotherapy, we focus on treating the entire system rather than just the symptoms. By integrating Shockwave therapy with expert manual techniques and tailored movement strategies, we help you achieve lasting stability and strength. Our commitment to transparency means no surprise fees—just effective care designed for your long-term health.

Did You Know?

Did you know fascia is a full-body connective web? Often described as a 'second skin' surrounding muscles and organs, restrictions in this tough tissue can cause chronic pain and stiffness that traditional treatments miss. Myofascial Release works to gently loosen these restrictions, reducing pressure and restoring movement.

Q

Is Myofascial Release the same as a deep tissue massage?

A

No. While both involve manual pressure, massage often uses oils and focuses on the muscles themselves. Myofascial Release is a specialized technique that focuses on the fascia (the connective tissue envelope), using sustained pressure to create long-term structural changes.
